STRUCTURAL POOL

PREVIOUS        BACK

This rimflow pool was designed as the focal point of the extended new living area. The pool was designed to have visual impact from the new family room, the front terrace, the outdoor gazebo and the cellar. As the edge of the pool is almost 4 M above natural ground at the deep end of the pool, substantial extra structural provisions were required. Large, deep,  steel re-enforced  pylons were formed vertically into the ground below the base of the pool. Using pneumatically applied gunite, the double structure was formed, allowing for  rimflow trough cantilevered off the base of the pool,  the water feature suspended between the pool wall and the new family room wall, and space for the glass window which was fitted into the side of the pool facing the cellar. The pool was finished in neutral grey surround tiles, similar waterline tiles and grey interior plaster, with a slate outer wet face on the rimflow.
