Brian Greenfield founded Suburban Pools in 1981. Training as a diamond cutter preceded Brian's entry to the building trade, where his precision for detail and creative skills were developed.

Brian is self-taught, his entrepreneurial spirit further enhanced by not being restricted by the conservative approach taught by the larger pool organizations. The more difficult the project or site, the greater his opportunity to create a pool unlike any other. The result is unequalled expertise in unusual gunite pools.

Difficult sites often require working in conjunction with architects, builders and structural engineers, developing into special relationships and expertise, which is available to all Suburban Pool customers.

Suburban Pools are acknowledged by their peers as leaders in the pool industry. We are active members of the National Spa and Pool Institute (NSPI Tel 021 788 9141). In recent years Suburban Pools has dominated The NSPI Pool Of The Year competition, receiving many of the top accolades in pool design and structural engineering for our gunite pools.

Suburban Pools expertise has led to the development of other areas. Recent contracts include the construction of a number of school swimming pools, water features and the re-design and re-construction of old pools.

Gunite is a process of applying concrete to a structure. It is commonly used to build pools, water tanks, bridges, and tunnels and has many other commercial and industrial applications.

Suburban Pools use a gunite rig in which sand and cement are mixed and compressed. The mixture is then blown through a hose and out of a nozzle at which point water is added. The monolithic construction makes expansion joints unnecessary, a very valuable benefit in concrete construction.

Suburban Pools are heavily re-enforced with steel bars.
